Norton Ghost for NetWare is an ideal system tool for anyone who manages, upgrades, repairs, or administers Novell NetWare servers. The entire contents of a disk or NetWare volume can be copied from one disk to another, or it can be copied to a disk image file. That image file can then be used as a template to create copies of the original disk.

Why Use Norton Ghost for NetWare Instead of Norton Ghost?

Norton Ghost uses a sector-by-sector copying process for partitions that it does not understand. The Novell NetWare partition is one of them. If the source and target drives have the same number of sectors-per-track and heads-per-cylinder then the sector copying method will work correctly. Norton Ghost for NetWare was developed to handle the complex partitions, volumes, and files in Novell NetWare. Norton Ghost for NetWare is the very first product to fully support Novell NetWare.

Norton Ghost for NetWare is designed to minimize the setup, installation and reconfiguration time for Novell NetWare 3.x, 4.x and 5.x. Disaster or quick recovery of failed servers is dramatically simplified.

Norton Ghost for NetWare is designed to duplicate or clone entire disks, NetWare Partitions, or NetWare Volumes. It works by copying all NetWare Partition and Volume information from the source to the target disk. The source and target disk may be on the same computer, or the target disk may be on a different computer providing the two computers are connected via a network supporting TCP/IP. Norton Ghost for NetWare is particularly useful for cloning NetWare servers. There is no need to install NetWare on the target machine - this is done automatically.

The source and target disks may also be different sizes - Norton Ghost for NetWare will adjust the size of the target partitions and NetWare Volumes automatically.

Norton Ghost for NetWare can also be used to save the entire contents of a disk to a single disk image file, which can then be stored on a Network Server, SCSI Tape, CD-ROM, Jaz or Zip drive. This file can be used for BACKUP, or for cloning copies of the original disk.

Norton Ghost for NetWare does not do sector by sector copying. This software understands the format of NetWare Partitions and NetWare Volumes. Partitions and Volumes can be resized larger or smaller during the cloning process.
