Symantec CarrierScan™ Server 2.1 provides advanced, high-performance virus scanning and repair services for Web-based file transactions and content storage and delivery systems. CarrierScan employs Symantec's award-winning anti-virus technologies to detect malicious viruses, worms, and Trojan horses in all major file types, including mobile code and compressed file formats. Virus definitions and engines are updated automatically with no interruption in virus scanning. The highly scalable product accommodates growing scan volumes, additional servers, and provides automatic load balancing across multiple servers.

CarrierScan Server enables service providers and other organizations to integrate anti-virus scanning and repair capabilities into services such as email, network-based storage, data caching, and other Web-based file transactions. A client-side API allows virus scanning to be seamlessly added to network applications; and virus scanning can be integrated with Internet appliances through proprietary protocols. CarrierScan can run on a separate server, allowing it to be deployed in environments running heterogeneous platforms.
